This quick tip demonstrates how to instance Redshift lights in Houdini
and then control the instance parameters using point attributes.
Creating Instances of Geometry in Houdini’s SOP context is simple with nodes such as Copy To Points. However it isn’t quite the same when you need to instance lights as they exist in the OBJ context.
Luckily the Houdini Instance node supports Redshift light instancing and you can control a few attributes using point attributes which can be setup using your regular SOP workflow.
This tutorial takes you through the process of using the Instance node with RS Lights and few of the parameters you’ll need to change. We then move on and set up various point attributes to control the light colour, orientation and more.
