Cinema 4D Tutorial – Introduction to Point Cache

Ever used the caching that is available in certain tags and objects for Cinema4D?

Here is an introduction to the Point Cache Tag and Point Cache Deformer.  For this tutorial I thought I’d record a short movie.

You might want to head on over to Vimeo and watch the HD version of this (so you can actually see what is going on!).

Really good tutorial. I was just learning the point cache tool. Not knowing about the deformer I got a 780 MB file. I will now try to put in a few deformers to try and get the filesize down, excellent!

    Thank you!

    Hi Tim,

I tried using the Point Cache Deformer but I’m running into a problem. I used the animation Offset in the Point Cache Tag. So when I would use the Point Cache Deformer, and remove the (copy) Point Cache Tag, I would also lose this offset of the animation. Is there somehow a solution to re-use Point Cache tags but have the power to offset them in time?

    Great Tutorial Tim!

Really like the way you dig into the nooks and crannies of C4D to expose these powerful features.

great tutorial. I’m wondering if, once you’ve made the deformer, it could be applied to other, different objects. How would another point object (not a plane) react?
