Cinema 4D Tutorial – Building a Conveyor with Dynamics

Here’s a quick tutorial that will show you how you can use Dynamics in Cinema4D to build a simple conveyor to move objects along. In this example I simply create a curve for my cylinders, but there is no reason why you cannot create much more elaborate shapes.

The setup consists of a Dynamic Cylinder which is held in place by a Hinge Connector. This stops the cylinder from dropping down due to gravity. The cylinder is then linked into an Angular Motor which drives the rotation. Once this is working, you can group it all into a null and then clone away.

I added in some basic edges along the conveyor with a Sweep to stop any objects falling off. You may also want to play with the amount of Friction in the Dynamics Body Tag to stop your objects slipping.

So as you can imagine it is a fairly simple setup. Here’s the tutorial, only 10 minutes, so grab a cuppa or a cold one and check it out.

Nice tip, used to have trouble with those connectors and motors, trick like you say is to stick em in a null so you can reposition the whole system afterwards. Very cool
